Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Agriculture held a celebration for the second year in a row today, Saturday the 16th of December 2023, under the title “International Volunteer Day and the International Day for People with Disabilities (Differently Able)" in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Bahey El-Din Mohamed, Dean of the Faculty college, Dr. Heba Sabry Salama, Vice-Dean for community service and environmental development affairs, Mr. Ahmed Mehanna, member of the House of Representatives, in addition to members and heads of the boards of directors of associations and private institutions working and concerned with people with disabilities, as well as representatives of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif.
 
 
 
During the event, Dr. Shadi Fadel, Professor of Oncology at the Faculty of Medicine, reviewed the activities of Borg El Arab Children’s Cancer Hospital affiliated with Alexandria University, and Dr. Saber Wahib, Professor of Pediatric Surgeries and Congenital Differences at the Faculty of Medicine, reviewed the activities of Nile Al-Amal Hospital for Congenital Differences Surgeries.
 
 
 
Among the several entities taking part in the event were the Community-Based Rehabilitation Association, the Alexandria Development Foundation, the Flowers of Life(Zohoor El Hayah) Association, the Luminous Twilight (Al Shafaq Al Modie) Association, Al-Urwa Al-Wuthqa Association, and the Karmouz Social Welfare Association.
 
 
 
The celebration program included several games for differently abled people as well as music performances, various cartoon characters, songs, puppet theater, tannoura dancing, and a choir band, in addition to honouring some prominent figures in the field of community service and caring for people with disabilities and young volunteers in the field, headed by Dr. Ahmed Saleh Abu Shanab, the celebration’s coordinator.

Under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine organized a veterinary service training convoy for the eighth village of Abis, in cooperation with the Directorate of Veterinary Medicine in Alexandria.
 
 
Dr. Mahmoud Al-Maghrabi, who is managing the work of the Dean of the faculty, indicated that this convoy comes within the university’s plan to serve the Alexandrian community and train students for the faculty. He pointed out that the convoy included faculty members and the supporting staff from the clinical specialties at the faculty, where they examined, diagnosed, and treated diseases and surgeries of small and large animals and poultry, free of charge. He added that the convoy included final-level students from the faculty for practical training.
During the convoy, 442 cases were detected and treated, including cows, buffalo, sheep, goats, horses, and poultry. It witnessed a large turnout from the villagers, who expressed their thanks to the university and asked for the convoys to be repeated periodically.

Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University,inaugurated Saturday May 11 2024, the Engineering Forum for Business and Jobs 2024 at the Faculty of Engineering, whose activities last for two days at the faculty’s headquarters. The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Saeed Allam, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Essam. Wahba, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Walid Abdelazim, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Wael El-Meghlani, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Hisham Seoudi, Head of the Engineers Syndicate in Alexandria, in addition to a group of faculties’ deans and vice deans at Alexandria University, former university presidents, parliament members, as well as several CEOs and directors of companies and institutions in various engineering specializations.

In his speech, Dr. Konsowa stressed Alexandria University’s keenness to achieve competitiveness through international education to produce alumni capable of competing in the international, regional, and local labour markets, in addition to the university’s keenness to link the outputs of scientific research with industry, develop the field of scientific research, encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, and direct scientific research to serve society. This comes in line with the national strategy for higher education and scientific research and achieving the sustainable development goals of the Egyptian state 2030.
 
 
 
 
 
Dr. Konsowa pointed out that in order to achieve these strategic goals, Alexandria University has signed more than 50 double academic degrees with globally high-ranking major international universities, pointing out that the university aims to reach 100 double academic degrees with major international universities, and indicated that the international branch of Alexandria University will be ready within a year, it will be the headquarters for the management and supervision of all international programs within the university, and some of them will also be hosted there. He stressed that the university aspires to advance the educational process as it works to develop all educational laboratories for the undergraduate stage. He explained that the committee that was formed for this purpose reviewed all laboratories and equipment and evaluated them, in preparation for making the supply and completing maintenance, replacement, or purchasing new devices, in order to improve the educational process.
 
 
 
He added that the university also works to encourage researchers to increase applicable research related to industry, market and invest scientific research outputs to serve sustainable development and provide practical solutions for all challenges facing the industrial sector.

While Dr. Essam Wahba stressed that this forum is an important link between the Faculty of Engineering and all industrial companies and institutions in various fields, indicating that the Faculty of Engineering is the locomotive of development for society as a whole because of its participation in most of the national projects currently taking place in Egypt. He also stressed that the faculty seeks to provide a distinguished educational environment for students through launching the “Integrated Training with Industrial Companies” initiative to train students during their studies in various companies, so that they are able after graduation to join the labour market directly, and they are provided with academic and practical experience simultaneously. He pointed to the agreement that the faculty signed with Elsewedy Electric Company to achieve this purpose, and he also welcomed all companies participating in this forum to cooperate in this field.

While Dr. Walid Abdelazim confirmed that organizing this forum comes within the framework of Alexandria University’s initiatives to encourage the employment and training of university graduates and students, and to complement the educational, professional and research services provided by Alexandria University to students, and to support compatibility between academic research and industry. He stressed that this forum is attended by many major companies operating in various engineering specializations, adding that the presence of more than 40 major companies from various sectors of construction and industry confirms confidence in the faculty’s graduates and students. He also announced that the forum in its current session will witness the launch of a digital platform for employment and training that works to facilitate the journey of job and training seekers, through providing all details related to the job or training to help students decide to apply.
 
 
 
 
 
While Dr. Hisham Seoudi added that the passage of 22 years since this forum was launched for the first time confirms that the faculty cares about the future of its students and graduates and confirms that this forum is a well-established event at the Faculty of Engineering, as it has proven its great success in the past years. He stressed that engineers are the pride of Egypt for their participation in all national projects that are undertaken in various sectors. He also pointed out that this forum is a great opportunity for all faculty students and alumni to communicate with major companies that have an important and vital role in the Egyptian market, and provide real job opportunities for students.

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, the Faculty of Computers and Data Science celebrated the graduation of the first and second batches of its students for the academic years 2022/2023 and 2023/2024, in the presence of Dr. Magda Madbouly, Acting Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Adel El-Zoghbi, Professor of Computer Science and former Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Wael El-Meghlani, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Walid Abdelazim, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Reem Essam, Lecturer of Information Technology at the Faculty, Dr. Christine Raouf, Lecturer of Information Technology at the Faculty, and a group of faculty members and assistants, faculty students and their parents.
 
 
 
 
In her speech, Dr. Magda Madbouly congratulated the graduates and their parents, explaining that the faculty, through its unique specializations, has contributed to providing the local and international community with qualified graduates in the fields of data science, artificial intelligence, smart systems, and media systems in all their forms and uses. She added that the faculty graduates now have a role to play in contributing to building the country, achieving sustainable development goals, and meeting the needs of industry and the labor market related to the communications and information systems sector. She thanked all those who contributed to organizing the graduation ceremony from the Student Union and the Youth Care Department at the faculty.

Following the directives of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, to hold a series of awareness seminars for university students, the Community Service Sector at the Faculty of Medicine organized an educational seminar to raise health awareness among female students at the Smouha female campus.
 
 
Dr. Tamer Abdullah, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, indicated that the seminar discussed topics affecting health, psychological, social, and scientific aspects. A group of specialized professors participated in the presentations, including Prof. Dr. Emad Darwish, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Dr. Israa Hamdy El-Banna, Resident Physician. They discussed the concepts of reproductive health, early marriage, and family planning. Prof. Dr. Heba Essam, Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry, also reviewed the psychological and social aspects related to choosing a life partner. Assistant Professor Heba Abdel Samee, Assistant Professor of Forensic Medicine and Clinical Toxicology, addressed the topic of cyber violence and its impact on female students.
 
 
The event was well attended by female students from Alexandria University, who interacted extensively with the lecturers by asking questions and engaging in constructive dialogue and engaging with the issues under discussion.
