The Agricultural Studies Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities meets today at the Faculty of Agriculture

Under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, a meeting of the Agricultural Studies Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities was held today, Saturday, June 3, 2023, headed by Dr. Ayman Abu Hadid, former Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, in the Faculty of Agriculture in Shatby. Opening of the Tenth Student Conference for Research and Innovations, Faculty of Science

Under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Science organized the 10th Student Conference for Research and Innovations for undergraduate and postgraduate students and third schools. Its activities will continue on May 13 and 14, 2023 in the Faculty building in Shatby.
The opening was attended by Prof. Yasser Refaat - Deputy Minister of Higher Education for Scientific Research Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdel Bary - Vice President of the Arab Academy for Maritime Transport, Science and Technology, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Rashad Abdel-Fattah - Deputy Director of the City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications - for Scientific and Research Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Sameh Riad, Head of the Central Administration - Environmental Affairs Agency in Alexandria, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ismail Abdo Ibrahim - Advisor to the President of the British University in Egypt, and Prof. Aladdin Ramadan Mustafa - Vice President of Pharos University for Education and Students, and Prof. Mukhtar Ibrahim Youssef - Vice President of Pharos University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Mohamed Muharram - Vice President of the Businessmen Association in Alexandria, and a. Mohamed Adel - Executive Director of Scientific Journals and Customer Experience - Middle East and North Africa, representatives of industrial companies in Alexandria, deans and vice deans of faculties and institutes, heads of departments, exploratory centers, participating bodies, members of the faculty and the supporting staff, and our students from the university and schools.
Dean of the Faculty said that the Student Conference of the Faculty of Science is the link between pre-university education, represented by the schools and exploratory centers participating in the conference, and university education in its undergraduate and postgraduate levels, which provides the appropriate scientific environment to highlight the talents of students in the various stages of education in the fields of research and scientific innovations and provide them with the skills of self-expression and talent development process they have.
The opening lecture was delivered by Prof. Yasser Refaat, Deputy Minister of Higher Education for Scientific Research Affairs, entitled "The Qualitative Shift of Science, Technology and Innovation in Egypt".
The conference deals with several main themes: health and preclinical sciences, physical and chemical sciences, life sciences, science and technology, and sustainable development.
With the participation of the Holding Company for Drinking Water in Alexandria, and the Sanitation Company, "company exhibitions".
It is noteworthy that the number of participating schools is 15 schools, in addition to the management of the gifted and exploration centers, and 11 universities. The total number of participants in research is 218, and the number of projects is 146 projects.

Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour Attends Inauguration of International Conference of the Department of Clinical Pathology at Alexandria University

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs inaugurated today, Wednesday the 8th of March 2023, the activities of the Thirteenth International Conference of the Department of Clinical Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University (Alexmed Lab 2023), under the title "Opportunities and Challenges Facing Laboratory Medicine", which extends over two days, from 8 to 9 March 2023, in the presence of Major General Dr. Saria Hawam, Director of the Medical Complex at Mustafa Kamel Military Hospital, Dr. Ayman El-Shayeb, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Dr. Abla Ahmed Abu Zeid, Head of the Clinical Pathology Department at the Faculty of Medicine, and Chairman of the Conference, and Dr. Basant Moez, Professor at the Clinical Pathology Department, Faculty of Medicine and Vice President of the Conference.
In his speech, Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour praised the presence of many experts and international companies specialized in clinical pathology within the conference, which confirms its success from the beginning. He pointed out that the Department of Clinical Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, is one of the important departments in the faculty due to the contributions and medical services it provides. He added that the department has many accredited laboratories that provide excellent services to patients. El-Ghandour added that he hopes that the conference will come out with recommendations that benefit the research community in the field of clinical pathology, especially since the sub-sessions of the conference will witness discussion of important topics in modern methods of diagnosis. El-Ghandour stated that Alexandria University is keen to encourage this type of conference to exchange experiences between different research schools, raise the efficiency of doctors and improve the level of medical services provided to patients. He praised the efforts of the organizers of the conference and their great role in advancing laboratory medicine in university hospitals at Alexandria University.
While Dr. Abla Abu Zeid confirmed that the conference will discuss the problems and challenges faced by blood banks, as well as the latest technologies in diagnosing blood tumours and noncommunicable diseases. It also includes a workshop on quality management and crisis management. Abu Zeid confirmed that a group of clinical pathology experts from Alexandria, Cairo, Ain Shams, Zagazig, Assiut, Mansoura and Tanta universities, research centres affiliated with the Egyptian Armed Forces and central laboratories at the Ministry of Health will participate in the lectures at the conference, with the participation of more than 20 local and international companies specialized in the field of clinical pathology around the world. She indicated that an exhibition will be held on the side-lines of the conference for laboratory devices and chemicals, noting that the inauguration will witness the handing over of honorary shields to the former heads of the department in gratitude for their contribution to the success of the department and the conference, where Dr. Salah Marzouk, Professor of Clinical Pathology and Honorary President of the Conference, and Dr. Dalal Abdelgelil El-Geziri, Professor of Clinical Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, will be honoured.

Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science Research Team Wins Second Place in Preparing Public Policy Papers Competition

Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, congratulated the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science at Alexandria University, for winning the second place in the research competition organized by the Information and Decision Support Center of the Egyptian Government, for preparing public policy papers under the title “We Think for Our Country." Participants included 43 research teams from various Egyptian universities.
The winning team of the Faculty’s Department of Economics included Dr. Abdelhalim Shaheen, Mr. Abdelkhalek Mohamed, Mr. Ahmed Magdy, Ms. Alaa El-Shazly, and Ms. Marwa Harb. Their research paper under the title: “Blue Economy Exports are an Engine for Growth: One of the Gains of the Flexible Exchange Rate Policy,” addressed five main axes about what the Blue Economy is, discussed the status of the Blue Economy in Egypt, and analyzed SWOT of Egypt’s exports from the Blue Economy, citing pioneering experiences in this field, and an executive plan to enhance Egypt’s exports from the blue economy. The paper concluded with important recommendations regarding enhancing the capacity of marine wealth exports, port and logistics services exports, and beach tourism services exports.
The award winners were announced at a ceremony organized by the Information and Decision Support Center on Monday the 18th of December 2023.
Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science, Alexandria University, Organizes Symposium on Developments in Global Economic Situation

Under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science organized a symposium entitled "Developments in the Global Economic Situation: Options and Opportunities for the Arab Economy", in which Dr. Khaled Hanafi, Secretary General of the Arab Chambers of Commerce and former Minister of Supply, lectured.

In his speech, Dr. Ahmed Wahban, Dean of the Faculty, welcomed the guest speaker, stressing the need to consider science as the only way to a promising future, and urged faculty members to constantly develop curricula to keep pace with the rapid scientific developments in the fields of economics and political science.
For his part, Dr. Khaled Hanafi expressed his pleasure for being present at this meeting, stressing his pride in being a graduate of the Department of Economics and being a student of the professors of this deep-rooted department. Dr. Hanafi reviewed the developments of the global economy and the challenges it faces, on top of which are the mutants of the emerging Corona virus, the contraction of the global real estate market, inflation, and political and commercial conflicts. He also discussed the elements of economic recovery, most notably the fourth industrial revolution and sustainable development strategies. He also pointed to the pivotal role played by the fourth industrial revolution, accompanied by the digital transformation in economic and social activities, and the opportunities and advantages it holds within, starting from vital technologies, the Internet of things and big data, all the way to cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. In this context, Dr. Hanafi stressed the need to adapt and keep abreast of these tremendous developments, and stressed the need to develop the skills of students and researchers so that they would be able to meet the changing needs of the labour market in light of previous data. He also spoke about the repercussions of global developments on Arab economies, especially with regard to the extent of readiness of the governments of Arab countries for artificial intelligence, according to Government AI Readiness Index 2022. Dr. Hanafi reviewed the opportunities available to the Arab economy, most notably trade liberalization, cross-border cooperation, support for intra-Arab trade, the adoption of more sustainable economic systems, the role of the new tax policies in supporting Arab economies, the adoption of social business as a fundamental axis in development, the role of governance and the rule of law in supporting Arab economies, and political stability as
In conclusion, Dr. Khaled Hanafi stressed that all challenges on the global scene require practical and urgent measures to activate joint Arab economic action based on a new strategy that mimics the language of the present. His Excellency also stressed the need to arm yourself with technology and digitization in order to move forward.
The symposium was moderated by Dr. Sherine Nosseir, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and was attended by a group of professors, faculty members, assistant staff, and students from the Departments of Economics and Political Science.
