Faculty of Physical Education in Abu Qir Organizes Symposium Entitled “Sports and the October War... 50 Years of Pride”
Within the framework of Alexandria University’s celebrations of the golden jubilee of the October victories, and under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, University President, the Faculty of Physical Education for Boys organized a symposium entitled “Sports and the October War... 50 Years of Pride,” in which journalist and media writer Yasser Ayoub lectured, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Abdelhamid Bilal, Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Mohab Abdelrazzaq, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Major General Mohamed Fathi Abul-Nasr, Assistant to the University President for Administrative Affairs, Professor Tarek El-Wakeel, Member of the Faculty Council, Major General Tarek Hassan, Director of the Alexandria Mini Football Federation, in addition to a group of businessmen and those interested in the sports sector in Alexandria, as well as several faculty members and students.
In his speech, Dr. Mohamed Bilal, Dean of the Faculty, stressed the importance of the role of sports, pointing out that this symposium is an archive to clarify the role of sports during the October War and to narrate the heroics and participation of all members of the sports sector in the epic that was waged by the Egyptian Armed Forces.
For his part, the guest speaker Mr. Yasser Ayoub pointed out the great role of sports during the October War as an essential part of the great deception plan carried out by the armed forces to deceive the enemy, explaining that the Egyptian sports archives will always remember the football match between Ghazl El Mahalla and El-Tayaran teams, which was held while the Egyptian army was crossing the Suez Canal water blocker, which came in implementation of the strategic deception plan, as instructions were issued to give a large space to sports pages and football matches and to highlight new football stars. He said that Egypt fought its battle in all fields, including the field of sports, which had a role in the largest deception plan that made the enemy lose its balance and focus. He added that the physical fitness of the soldiers made them perform miracles by crossing the impenetrable water barrier and the impenetrable earthen barrier while carrying heavy weapons on their necks with all valor, and the reason for this was the abundance of physical training of the fighters.
The symposium included a documentary film screening about the October War.
Faculty of Economic Studies & Political Science Holds Symposium on Egyptian Politics and Blue Economy
Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science held today, Tuesday the 6th of December, a symposium on "Egyptian Politics and the Blue Economy", in cooperation with the Egyptian Maritime Salon, in the Grand Conference Hall at the faculty's headquarters.
Among the participants in the symposium were Lieutenant General Mohab Mameesh, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Ports and the Suez Canal Axis, Dr. Mohamed Ali Ibrahim, Professor of Logistics and Advisor to the President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour, Vice President of Alexandria University for Postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Wahban, Dean of the Faculty Economic Studies & Political Science, His Excellency Ambassador Mazeed Al-Hoshian, Consul General of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Grace Bishop Ibram Emile, the Deputy of the Patriarchate in Alexandria, as well as members of the Egyptian Parliament, in addition to many former naval commanders, thinkers and members of the Egyptian Naval Salon, representatives of the Alexandrian civil society, faculty members and students.
During the symposium moderated by Dr. Mamdouh Mansour, Head of the Department of Political Science at the Faculty, Lieutenant General Mohab Mameesh, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Ports and the Suez Canal Axis, stressed the importance of the Suez Canal in the global trade movement, as it is the most important waterway to connect the East with Europe. He gave an account of the history of the Suez Canal and the most important international crises and conflicts that it passed through, and he also talked about the modern development projects that have been achieved in recent years under the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, which were represented in the expansion and duplication of the canal, as well as projects to develop the economic zone adjacent to it, and projects to modernize and develop Egyptian seaports and raise the efficiency of the maritime transport sector.
In his speech, Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour conveyed to the guests of the meeting the greetings of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, expressing his pleasure to participate in this scientific symposium, which sheds light on the most important development projects in the field of maritime transport and the blue economy, through the sustainable use and preservation of water resources, which are oceans, seas, lakes and rivers, with the aim of directing economic growth, improving livelihoods and creating job opportunities, while ensuring respect for the environment, cultural values and biodiversity.
Dr. Ahmed Wahban, Dean of the Faculty, also pointed out the importance of the topic of the symposium in opening new horizons of knowledge for the students and researchers of the Faculty in relation to the field of the blue economy, which is concerned with good management of water resources, dependence on the seas and oceans for sustainable development, eradicating poverty and achieving self-sufficiency in food.
While Dr. Mohamed Ali Ibrahim, Advisor to the President of the Arab Academy for Maritime Transport, referred to the emergence and development of the concept of the blue economy, and the role of the maritime transport sector in economic development and the global economy. He also reviewed many development projects that took place in Egypt and the Arab countries, especially the Arabian Gulf and Southeast Asia in the field of marine transport.
Dr. Mohammad Bahi Eldin Re-appointed as Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, congratulated Dr.Mohammad Bahi Eldin Soliman, on the occasion of the issuance of the presidential decree to renew his appointment as Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, wishing him success and continuous efforts to maintain the achievements of the faculty, stressing that all support and assistance will be provided to him for his success in performing his mission.
Faculty of Education Celebrates its 53rd Class Graduation
The Faculty of Education, Alexandria University, celebrated the graduation of the 53rd batch of its students, in the presence of Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, Major General Mohamed El-Sherif, Governor of Alexandria, Major General Hazem Badr, Deputy Commander of the Northern Military Region, and Dr. Mohamed Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Education, in addition to deans and vice-deans of different faculties, faculty members at Alexandria University, as well as leaders of education in Alexandria, members of the House of Representatives and Senate, clergy, and parents of students.
In his speech, Dr. Reda Hegazy stressed the necessity of continuous development of the teacher and benefiting from the many sources of knowledge to develop the educational process. He stressed that the Ministry seeks a teacher who produces information and data, not a teacher who teaches information to students, in order to create what is called “creativity producing education.” Hegazy pointed out that the President puts the Egyptian teacher at the forefront of his interests by offering a competition to appoint 30,000 teachers every year, adding that there are several specific mechanisms based on which new teachers are selected, which are the academic specialization, the educational specialization, the general knowledge of the teachers, the extent of their familiarity with technology, and their proficiency in one of the Arabic or English languages, in addition to passing the physical fitness tests. He also stressed that there will be competitions to be announced soon. At the end of his speech, Hegazy stressed that there is no development of education without improving the teacher’s performance.
While Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa congratulated the parents and thanked them for their great efforts with their children during the years of study until graduation. He also thanked everyone who participated in the educational process during the years of study at the faculty, including department heads, faculty members, their assistants, and all the faculty employees for their support, dedication, and sincerity. Konsowa stressed that the Egyptian state is currently witnessing the construction phase under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, stressing that the Egyptian teacher is the cornerstone in building the Egyptian state. He pointed out that teachers are the ones who give credit to all the leaders present today, as they have influenced the values by which we live to this day. Konsowa stressed that the value of knowledge, advising students of the importance of possessing it to build a knowledge-based economy, and calling on them to be ambassadors for their country, their university, and their faculty, wherever they are, and to strive to convey an honourable image of their alma mater.
While Major General Mohamed El-Sherif congratulated all the graduates and their families, wishing them more success, stressing the state’s keenness, under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the New Republic, to provide full support and care to the Egyptian teacher. The governor stressed that the Faculty of Education is one of the most important faculties, for its role in preparing future generations who are to become doctors, engineers, and all other professions, pointing out that teaching is a lofty profession and teachers are the messengers of this nation.
Major General Hazem Badr conveyed the greetings of Major General Staff Walid Hamouda to the attendees, adding that arming yourself with knowledge is one of the pillars of the Egyptian state, wishing the students a prosperous and bright future filled with the fulfilment of hopes and aspirations as much as the graduates made great efforts during their years of study.
The celebration activities began with a parade of graduates, then the national anthem of the Arab Republic of Egypt, followed by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. At the end of the celebration, the students took the oath of the graduates of the 53rd class of students from the Faculty of Education, Alexandria University.
Faculty of Tourism and Hotels Students Participate in Training Camp Organized by National Council for Women in Alexandria
Within the framework of the project to support and create a safe work environment for women in the tourism sector in Egypt, and under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, students of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels participated in the training camp organized by the National Council for Women, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Spanish Cooperation Agency in Egypt, in collaboration with the Wellspring Foundation.
The conference targeted male and female students of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels at the Universities of Alexandria and Matrouh, with the aim of training and educating them on how to support and promote a safe work environment for women working in the tourism sector, and it lasted for 3 days in Alexandria.
Dr. Abeer Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, indicated that the camp included many activities and topics, the most important of which are how to manage time, planning, personal skills to get a job, work values and ethics, communication skills and teamwork, in addition to topics of social intelligence and the equation of change.
