Faculty of Agriculture Organizes Seminar on Renewing Religious Discourse and Enhancing Youth Awareness
Within the series of volunteer and awareness activities organized by Alexandria University, and under the patronage of Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Agriculture held an awareness seminar titled "Renewing Religious Discourse and Raising Awareness Among Youth." The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Heba Sabry Salama, Dean of the Faculty, and was supervised and organized by Prof. Dr. Maha Adel Konah, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Gamal Attwa, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, with the participation of Dr. Lamyaa Khamis El-Shafei, Coordinator of Volunteer Activities at the University.
The keynote speakers included His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Ibrahim El-Gamal, Director-General of Al-Azhar Preaching, Sheikh Ahmed Abdel Ghani, Sheikh El-Sayed Abdel Mawla, and Ms. Nagwa Shebl from Al-Azhar Preachers (male and female). The lecturers addressed multiple axes concerning the importance of renewing religious discourse and its role in promoting enlightened thought and protecting youth from misleading ideas.
In his speech, His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Ibrahim El-Gamal stressed that the renewal of religious discourse does not mean changing constants, but rather "re-presenting them to young people in a contemporary language based on correct understanding and moderation, thereby enhancing their ability to distinguish between right and wrong, and confronting intellectual challenges in light of the rapid development of the world." He also emphasized the importance of empowering youth with sound religious knowledge that contributes to building genuine awareness based on positive thinking, ethics, and humanitarian values.
For her part, Prof. Dr. Heba Sabry Salama, Dean of the Faculty, explained that organizing such seminars comes within the framework of the social role of the Faculty and the University in "building an aware student personality, capable of critical thinking, and immunized against rumors and extremist ideas." She affirmed that the Faculty is committed to implementing more awareness-raising activities that support students on both the scientific and human levels and contribute to their effective participation in community service.
At the conclusion of the event, the Faculty honored the lecturers in appreciation of their participation and efforts in spreading awareness and promoting enlightened thought among students.
Faculty of Nursing Organizes an Awareness Forum on Combating Violence Against Women in the Digital Age
Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Nursing, in collaboration with the National Council for Women – Alexandria Branch, organized an awareness forum titled “Combating Violence Against Women in the Digital Age.” The event reflects the commitment of both institutions to supporting national efforts aimed at empowering and protecting women, as well as highlighting the role of educational institutions in promoting awareness and fostering a safe society that respects women’s rights and dignity.
The forum was attended by Prof. Dr. Hanan Hosny El-Sherbiny, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing; Prof. Dr. Sahar Mansour Lamada, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs; Ms. Safaa Tawfiq, member of the National Council for Women; a group of specialists, faculty members, students, civil society representatives, and individuals interested in women’s issues. The event was delivered by Dr. Nevin Gamal from the Community Health Nursing Department.
In her speech, Prof. Dr. Hanan El-Sherbiny highlighted the connection between combating violence against women and the Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing Egypt’s effective role in empowering women, protecting them from all forms of violence, and reinforcing the role of educational institutions in supporting these efforts.
Prof. Dr. Sahar Mansour Lamada stressed the importance of raising awareness about the risks of violence against women and the need to adopt effective preventive strategies in light of digital transformation.
Dr. Nagah Abdelrahman Ragah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf in Alexandria, delivered a lecture on the religious perspective and its role in reducing violence.
From a religious and humanitarian standpoint, Pastor Ihab Helmy spoke about respecting women and rejecting all forms of violence, affirming the role of religious institutions in promoting awareness and reinforcing values of compassion and coexistence.
Ms. Amira Samir, member of the National Council for Women, highlighted the Council’s efforts in protecting and empowering women.
Dr. Manal Foda, Executive Director of the Anti-Violence Against Women Unit at Alexandria University, presented the unit’s activities and initiatives within the university.
Eng. Islam Ghanem, Information Systems and AI Consultant, delivered a presentation on cybercrimes targeting women and methods of digital protection.
The interventions concluded with Dr. Ola Mamdouh, Professor of Community Health Nursing, who discussed the health and social impacts of digital violence.
At the end of the forum, a set of recommendations was issued, emphasizing the importance of strengthening community awareness and expanding educational programs focused on preventing all forms of violence, particularly digital violence, which continues to grow in impact alongside technological advancement.
Distinguished Activities within the “Religious Identity and Youth Issues” Program at the Faculty of Nursing
As part of Alexandria University’s commitment to supporting youth awareness and enhancing their understanding of contemporary intellectual and psychological challenges, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and the supervision and guidance of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Alexandria University witnessed a remarkable day of activities within the “Religious Identity and Youth Issues” program. The program was organized by the University Students’ Union in cooperation with Egypt’s Dar Al-Iftaa, and held at the Faculty of Nursing.
The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Hanan El-Sherbini, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing; Sheikh Ahmed Ali, Director of the Alexandria branch of Dar Al-Iftaa; and Dr. Amr Al-Wardani, Secretary of Fatwa and Member of the Higher Advisory Committee at Dar Al-Iftaa.
The program addressed a range of topics relevant to today’s youth, including atheism and ways to protect religious thought, hidden addiction and harmful behaviors, the dangers of smoking on young people, the ethics of friendships between males and females, religious extremism and prevention methods, in addition to issues related to psychological balance and regaining stability after emotional or mental setbacks.
Dr. Amr Al-Wardani delivered an interactive session with the students, featuring a rich discussion that explored key questions related to religious identity, intellectual doubts, psychological pressures, and human relationships. Al-Wardani provided clear and insightful answers grounded in a methodology that combines religious knowledge with educational wisdom. He emphasized that religion offers a safe space for understanding and inner balance—away from fear or closed-mindedness—and that conscious dialogue is essential in empowering young people and strengthening their intellectual and psychological resilience.
Faculty of Specific Education Organizes the Cultural Forum for International Communities and Foreign Students
As part of the university’s commitment to supporting activities that promote cultural openness and interaction among international students, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Specific Education organized the Cultural Forum for International Communities and Foreign Students (from Oman, Palestine, Kuwait, and Syria) for the undergraduate level. The event took place on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the theater of the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science.
The forum was attended by Prof. Dr. Nagda Mady, Dean of the Faculty; Prof. Dr. Gehan Aboul Khair, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Hala Mokled, Executive Director of the University’s International Students Administration; representatives of the Palestinian Consulate; a number of deans, vice deans, faculty members; as well as a large audience of international students and community leaders. The event was moderated by Dr. Nada Yousry and directed by Adham Yehia.
In her speech, Prof. Dr. Nagda Mady emphasized the importance of cultural closeness between local students and their international counterparts. Prof. Dr. Gehan Aboul Khair highlighted the faculty’s role in integrating students and providing academic support, while Dr. Hala Mokled underscored the university’s efforts in supporting international students and providing an attractive educational environment. Huthaifa Al-Alawi Al-Issawi, President of the International Students Committee at the university, expressed the students' appreciation for the university’s interest in their needs.
The forum featured distinguished artistic and musical performances by the faculty’s choir led by Maestro Dr. Hani Zoweid, a flute solo by Dr. Shaimaa Abdelhamid, and cultural presentations by international students introducing their home countries and educational experiences. The event also included the opening of an art exhibition by local and international students, as well as a traditional food exhibition representing the participating countries, reflecting the cultural diversity within the university.
The event concluded with honoring participants and presenting shields and certificates of appreciation in recognition of their contributions to the success of the forum.
The forum’s coordination was supported by Assoc. Prof. Heba Gamal Abdel Halim and Assoc. Prof. Dalia Mohamed Sharaf, with organizational contributions from Dr. Shaimaa Maher Makawy, Dr. Samar Mohamed Salem, and Dr. Heba Abu Al-Maati, whose efforts played a pivotal role in achieving the forum’s goals.
Faculty of Education, Alexandria University Holds the Third Forum Titled: “Education Policies Between Renewal and Reform”
Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University and Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, the Department of Educational Administration and Education Policies at the Faculty of Education organized its third forum entitled “Education Policies Between Renewal and Reform” at the Conference and Seminar Hall.
The forum was held with the support and guidance of Prof. Dr. Hassan Saad Abdeen, Dean of the Faculty of Education, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Khamis Harb, Head of the Department of Educational Administration and Education Policies and President of the Forum.
The event was attended by a distinguished group of academic and educational leaders, including the Dean of the Faculty, the Forum President, the Vice Deans for Graduate Studies and Research, and for Community Service and Environmental Development, in addition to the Director of the Alexandria Directorate of Education, former faculty leaders, a number of faculty members, researchers, and prominent public figures from Alexandria.
The forum commenced with participant registration, followed by the opening speech delivered by the Dean of the Faculty, who welcomed the attendees and expressed his pride in the forum’s continuity for the third consecutive year. He affirmed that the Faculty of Education is fully committed to supporting academic platforms that bring together researchers and decision-makers. He further noted that the selection of the theme “Renewal and Reform” reflects the department’s awareness of the need to review and develop educational policies in line with global transformations, emphasizing that the forum serves as a bridge between academic thought and practical application to ensure a better educational future.
In his address, the Forum President welcomed the panel members, experts, educational leaders, researchers, and participants, highlighting that the third edition of the forum reaffirms the department’s commitment to advancing specialized scientific research and fostering academic dialogue on educational policy issues, as they constitute the cornerstone for educational development and shaping its future direction.
The forum featured several scientific sessions that discussed a range of research papers and strategic perspectives, reflecting the richness of discussion and the diversity of approaches to issues of renewal and reform in educational policies. The event concluded with a set of recommendations, followed by a closing speech by the Forum President, who praised the forum’s success and the distinguished scientific contributions and constructive discussions it witnessed.
